Arrival and an easy first swim
Fly into Curaçao International Airport (CUR), one of the Caribbean's longest runways, just 15 to 20 minutes from Willemstad. Pick up your rental car, request your child seats, and settle into your base near Jan Thiel, a calm, family-friendly area on the southeast coast with easy beaches and plenty of casual dining.
Keep the first day simple. Head to Mambo Beach, a lively, sheltered stretch of sand with a shallow swimming area, loungers, shops and restaurants, perfect for shaking off the flight. Let the kids paddle in the calm water while you find your feet on island time.
Have an early, relaxed dinner along the Mambo Beach boulevard or back at Jan Thiel, then get a good night's rest before a busier day tomorrow.
Pick up a few groceries and snacks for the week on the way in; casual dinner at a beachfront restaurant near Mambo Beach or Jan Thiel.
Collect your rental car at the airport and reserve child seats in advance. The drive to the Jan Thiel area is short. There is no ride-hailing on the island, so a car is the most practical choice.
~$160 per person
After a travel day, do not over-plan. A short beach session and an early dinner help everyone reset, especially with younger kids adjusting to the heat and a new time zone.
